Short Brief About Maşkiye
Maşukiye, a town in Kocaeli’s Kartepe district, is popular with its dazzling nature and peaceful atmosphere.
It is 20 km from Izmit, 13 km from Kartepe and 36 km from Kocaeli city center. Since it is close to Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya and Bursa, it is visited by visitors especially on weekends.
It has two neighborhoods, Soguksu and Cinarli.
Maşkiye takes its name from the maşş which means love and has been a honeymoon route of the surrounding cities for a long time. The first guests of Maşukiye, founded in 1860s, were Circassian tribes who settled in the region after the Caucasian-Russian War. Murat Bey, a Circassian, is known as the founder of the village.
